Abstract: Automakers envision and invest in a next generation of future cars enriched with concepts of connected car and smart automotive systems. These future cars employ in-vehicle networking as well as vehicle-to-anything communications technology for providing connected services to drivers, passengers and intelligent transport infrastructure in the vicinity. In this paper, we explore and focus on in-vehicle networking technology for realizing in-vehicle infotainment. Through a literature review on recent in-vehicle infotainment studies, we elicit and identify requirements, use cases and scenarios for in-vehicle infotainment systems. Then as a usable solution, we design and propose a Bluetooth-based in-vehicle infotainment for general purposes and multiuser use cases.
