Radar and camera based missing persons detection system for smart lightening

Abstract: This paper proposes a radar and camera based missing person detection system for smart lighting. Conventional missing person detection is difficult to find a missing person because the user utilizes the photograph of the previous missing person to detect the camera image, but the shape of the previous picture and that at the time of disappearance are different. Moreover, since conventional system depends only on the camera, it is difficult to detect in various environments such as severe weather. Thus, when the radar detects a moving object and then, the light is turned on, the proposed system improves the performance of missing person detection by detecting the color of the missing person’s clothes on the camera image. Color detection is based on the HSV model. Through experimental results, we obtain the proposed system’s results to estimate the position of missing person.
